Keys, keys, keys, and more keys! There are so many keys in RuneScape. Some you use often and others you may use once a month or once only. There are so many keys in RuneScape it is hard to remember what key does what, especially if you do not use them often; this guide here will tell you what key does what.

The Key Ring is obtained as a reward from the One Small Favour Quest. This key ring lets you attach certain keys to it, saving bank space and allowing an easy way to access many useful keys! You do not need to remove a key from the ring to use it, just use the key ring on the door you are trying to unlock. Note that not all keys will be able to be attached to the key ring.

	A Key	This key is part of the Waterfall Quest. It is located in the Waterfall Dungeon. Go down the eastern passage and search the crates to find it. It is used to unlock the door behind the Odd Looking Wall down the west passage at the end of the quest. There is also a spawn of it in the chamber so you do not get stuck in case you lose your key. 	A Small Key	This key is part of the Plague City quest. Go upstairs in the large house where Elena is being held. Search the barrel to find this key. Use the key to unlock and free Elena in her downstairs cell.	Yes	No
	Ancestral key	This key is obtained by telekinetically-grabbing it from the Shrine in Nardah. It is used to enter the Spirits of the Elid's cave	Yes	Yes
	Battered Key	This key is used in the Elemental Workshop quest. Use your knife on the Battered Book to receive a Battered Key. It is used to unlock the Odd Looking Wall in the Seers' Village smithy.	Yes	Yes
	Bedabin Key	This is given to you by Al Shabim in The Tourist Trap quest. After finding the book about Sailing in Captain Siad's bookshelf, talk to him about sailing, and, while he is distracted, unlock his Chest and take the blueprints.	Yes	No
	Bone Key	Craft this out of the Bone Shard you find in the Palm Tree in the Shilo Village Quest. It is used to open Rashiliyia's tomb.	Yes	No
	Bone Key	This key is dropped by Necrovarus in the Ghosts Ahoy quest. It is used to open a cell upstairs in the Ectofuntus temple.	Yes	No
	Brass Key	This key unlocks the door of the small building west of the Cooks' Guild, with a ladder to the end of the Edgeville Dungeon. The key respawns very near where the ladder leads down to, in the dungeon.	No	Yes
	Bronze Key	Osman gives you this after you make a print of Lady Keli's key in clay. It is used to open the prison and free Prince Ali.	No	No
	Bronze Key	This key can be pickpocketed off a H.A.M. Guard and used to open a chest in the H.A.M. storage caves to find various pieces of jewelry, gems and coins.	Yes	No
	Cavern Key	This key is used in the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest to gain access to a cavern. You must kill a level 54 experiment to obtain it.	Yes	No
	Cell Key 1	This key unlocks Godric from his cell in the Troll Stronghold prison.	Yes	No
	Cell Key 2	This key unlocks Mad Eadgar from his cell in the Troll Stronghold prison.	Yes	No
	Cell Door Key	Search the desk in Captain Siad's room to find this key. It is used to unlock the cell if you are unlucky and thrown in while attempting to free the Slave in The Tourist Trap quest. You can also escape by bending the bars.	Yes	No
	Chest Key	This key is obtained by begging the Workman for it in the Digsite Quest. It is used to open the chest to get the Unidentified Powder in the Panning Tray tent.	Yes	No
	Chest Key	Talk to Redbeard Frank after smuggling the Rum from Karamja. He will be pleased, and give you a key. The key opens a chest in upstairs Blue Moon Inn containing a message telling you where the treasure is.	No	No
	Chest Key	This key is used to open a chest in the Carnillean's secret room, to find the Hazeel scroll, during the Hazeel Cult quest. It is found in the Carnillean's basement, which is just south of King Lathas' Palace.	Yes	No
	Crystal Key	This key is formed by combining the Loop and Teeth Half Keys. It is used to unlock the chest on the first floor of the house south of the Witch's house in Taverley. When unlocked, you will receive an Uncut Dragonstone and several random items, including Cooked Swordfish, Diamonds, Rubies, 3 Rune Bars, Spinach Rolls, various Runes, 150 Iron Ore notes, 50 Coal Ore notes, Half Keys, and 2,000gp. 	Crystal-mine Key	This key is obtained in the Haunted Mine quest. To pick it up off the crate, you will need to defeat Treus Dayth.	Yes	Yes
	Display Cabinet Key	This key is used in The Golem quest; it opens a cabinet in the Varrock Museum.	Yes	No
	Door Key	This key used in the Witch's House quest to unlock the Witch's door. The key can be found by searching her doormat, and it also respawns upstairs so that you would not be trapped in the house.	Yes	No
	Dusty Key	This key unlocks the door in the Taverley Dungeon, just past the Lesser Demons. To obtain the key, go to the southern area of the dungeon, with the Black Knights and Lord Daquarius. Kill the Jailer; use the Jail Keys he drops to unlock the door with Velrak the Explorer in it. As a reward for freeing him he will give you this key. There is also a Dusty Key respawn near where the Lava Eel fishing spot is located.	Yes	Yes
	Enchanted Key	This key is obtained during the Making History quest, and is used as a "warm" and "cold" indicator for buried treasure!	Yes	Yes
	Frozen Key	This key is obtained during The Fremennik Trials quest. When thawed, it allows you to leave Peer the Seers' trial room.	Yes	No
	Glough's Key	This key is given to you by Anita as part of the The Grand Tree quest. You can find her west of the Toad Swamp. Use the key to unlock the chest in Glough's house to find Glough's Notes.	Yes	No
	Grip's Keyring	These are dropped by Grip in the Heroes Quest. After you/your friend from the Phoenix Gang kill him with by ranging him, the Black Arm Gang member picks up these keys. They are used to unlock the chest in the Treasure Room and remove the two candlesticks.	Yes	No
	Iron Key	This key can be pickpocketed off a H.A.M. Guard and used to open a chest in the H.A.M. storage caves to find various pieces of jewelry, gems and coins.	Yes	No
	Jail Keys	These keys are dropped by the Jailer (see Dusty Key above).	Yes	No
	Keep Key	This key is used in the Observatory Quest. You can find by searching the chest in the south-eastern corner of the Observatory Basement. The key unlocks the gate guarded by a level 48 Guard. After killing the guard, unlock the gate, and search the sacks to find the Lens Mould.	Yes	No
	Key	This key is used in a treasure trail task, to open a chest in Seers' Village and Ardougne.	Yes	No
	Key	This key is used in the Ernest the Chicken quest to open the door to the closet with the rubber hose guarded by the Skeleton. Use the spade found in the side room on the compost heap outside Draynor Manor to get the key.	No	No
	Key	This key is used in the Witch's House quest, to open the shed at the back of Nora. T. Hagg's house.	Yes	No
	Key	This key is found in the crates beneath the Carnillean Mansion in the Hazeel Cult quest. It is used to open the chest in the mansion to receive the scroll.	Yes	No
	Key	After killing two Mourners on the second story of the Mourner's house, in the Biohazard quest, you will receive this key. Use it to unlock the gate near the Mourners.	Yes	No
	Khazard Cell Keys	The Guard guarding the Jeremy and Justin Servil, in the Fight Arena quest, gives you these when you give him a Khali Brew. Use the keys to unlock Jeremy's cell.	Yes	No
	Loop Half Key	These are dropped by all monsters in the game that drop gems and Dragon Half Shields. Once you have the teeth half you can put the two halves together to make the Crystal Key.	Yes	No
	Lighthouse Key	This key is used during the Horror From the Deep quest, to open the Lighthouse, west of Rellekka. After you have completed the quest, you no longer require this key.	Yes	No
	Maze Key	Given to you by Oziach in his hut west of Edgeville, this key is used to unlock the front door of Melzar's Maze, part of the Dragon Slayer quest. Inside the Maze you will find more keys that are used only within the maze. They are the Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Magenta, and Green Keys, and they all disappear after using them. I have not included these in the Guide, as they would only add clutter. Note that the Maze Key can be bought in the Legends' Guild.	No	Yes
	Metal Key	This key unlocks the gate to the Mining Camp and the Slave's Chains in The Tourist Trap quest. You get it by killing the Mercenary Captain by the gate.	Yes	Yes
	Miscellaneous Key	The Black Arm Gang member will receive this from Grip and should proceed to give it to the Phoenix Gang members in the Hero's Quest. It unlocks the back door to Scar Faced Pete's Mansion in Brimhaven.	Yes	No
	Muddy Key	Dropped by Chaos Dwarves, this key unlocks a chest in the Lava Maze, which, when opened, will give you a random item, including 50 coins, 1 Mithril bar, 1 Mithril Dagger, 1 Anchovy Pizza, 1 Uncut Ruby, 10 Chaos Runes, 2 Death Runes, and 2 Law Runes	No	No
	Prison Key	The key to the Troll prison.	Yes	No
	Ogre Gate Key	This keys allows you to access the Ogre tombs at Jiggig.	Yes	No
	Seers' Key	This key comes from the Frozen key, which will allow you to leave Peer the Seers' trial room.	Yes	No
	Shed Key	This key opens the gardener's shed behind Fenkenstrain castle.	Yes	No
	Shortcut Key	This key allows you through the locked doors in Meiyerditch.	Yes	Yes
	Shiny Key	This key is found on the other side of the lava you are teleported across by the Witch in the Temple of Ikov quest. This key is used to enter and exit the small hut in McGrubor's Wood, allowing you to exit the Temple of Ikov Dungeon to finish the quest, and re-enter it later at your leisure.	Yes	Yes
	Silver Key	This key can be pickpocketed off a H.A.M. Guard and used to open a chest in the H.A.M. storage caves to find various pieces of jewelry, gems and coins.	Yes	No
	Silverlight Keys	Sir Prysin requires three keys to unlock the chest containing Silverlight in the Demon Slayer quest. Talk to the Captain in the north-west corner of upstairs Varrock Palace for the first. Use a bucket of water with the drain on the east side of the Palace, and climb down into Varrock Sewers to find the second. And, after giving him 25 bones, the Wizard Traiborn in the Wizard Tower will give you the third. Give all three of these keys to Sir Prysin to receive Silverlight.	No	No
	Sinister Key	At the very end of the Yanille Agility Dungeon is Salarin the Twisted. Defeat him to receive the Sinister Key, which unlocks the chest in the room with the level 45 skeletons. Upon opening the Sinister Chest, you will receive: 1 Torstol, 2 Harralander, 3 Ranarr weed, 1 Kwuarm, 1 Irit leaf, and 1 Avantoe; a total of 933.5exp (or 758.5exp excluding Torstol).	Yes	No
	Steel Key	This key can be pickpocketed off a H.A.M. Guard and used to open a chest in the H.A.M. storage caves to find various pieces of jewelry, gems and coins.	Yes	No
	Steel Key Ring	This is given to you by Yanni at the completion of the One Small Favour quest. It can be used to store eight keys at a time, but only multiple-use keys (Brass Key, Dusty Key, Wrought Iron Key, etc.), not keys that disappear upon use.	Yes	No
	Storeroom Key	This key is used to open the storeroom in the Troll Stronghold.	Yes	No
	Tarnished Key	This key is used in the Mourning's Ends Part I quest, to open the jail cell where a gnome is being held captive, and tortured. The head mourner will give you this key.	Yes	No
	Teeth Half Key	These are dropped by all monsters in the game that drop gems and Dragon Half Shields. Once you have the loop half you can put the two halves together to make the Crystal Key.	Yes	No
	Tiny Key	This key is part of the Waterfall Quest. Go through the Tree Gnome Maze, and enter the dungeon. Go down the eastern passage and search the crates to find it. Then, go down the western passage, and use it to open the jail cell containing the Gnome.	Yes	No
	Toban Key	Og the Ogre, located in the Ogre Settlement, gives you this key in the Watch Tower quest. Use it to unlock Toban's chest on the island south of Yanille. When you open the chest, you will receive a gold bar. Give it to Og.	Yes	No
	Weapon Store Key	This key, which is part of the Shield of Arrav quest, is given to the Phoenix gang member and allows access to the Armory Room where the Phoenix crossbows are stored. The key must be given to the Black Arm Gang applicant so that they can retrieve the crossbows and join the Black Arm Gang.	No	Yes
	Wrought Iron Key	This key is the reward for completing The Tourist Trap quest. Talk to Ana after smuggling her out of the Mining Camp. It unlocks a wrought iron gate in the north-eastern corner of the Camp. There are six Mithril and six Adamantite rocks in this mine.	Yes	Yes
	Zealot's Key	To obtain this key, pickpocket Zealot, who can be found near the entrance to the Haunted Mine region. The key is used to make the sewer valve operational, to power the lift chair.	Yes	No
