Forgettable Tale of a Drunken Dwarf is part 2 in the Rise of the Red Axe series, focusing on the dwarves and their capital city of Keldagrim
. After the events in The Giant Dwarf, the Red Axe mining company has departed the city and set up a new headquarters in a remote underground location.
Veldaban, the Commander of the Black Guard in Keldagrim
, wants you to investigate the case and find out if the Red Axe is planning anything nefarious. The problem is, the only lead he's got is an extremely drunken and kebab obsessed dwarf.
Use your farming and brewing abilities to your advantage, then prepare to be perplexed by puzzles as you follow the trail to the Red Axe...
Talk to Commander Veldaban, Black Guard HQ, west Keldagrim.
Talk to Drunken Dwarf.
Buy a beer for him.
Make your way to Keldagrim either via Rellekka, the Ice Mountain or White Wolf Mountain cart system (~200gp) or the Fairy Ring DKS. Head over to the Black Guard Headquarters (right behind the bank) in west Keldagrim and speak to Commander Veldaban.
Commander Veldaban tells you that the Red Axe, previously boycotting the trade floor, has left the city entirely. The Commander will ask you if you're interested in assisting him investigate; reply with 'very interested'. He goes on to tell you that they have only one lead; a drunken dwarf in north-east Keldagrim, and he asks if you know him. Reply with yes, and he will ask you to help the Black Guard.
A cut-scene will appear and soon after you will appear out the front of the drunken dwarf's house. Go in and tell him you need to know about the Red Axe. Funnily enough, he says he can't think when he's sober; walk out of his house, and go directly south to the pub. Ask the barmaid for a beer (2gp), and return to the Drunken Dwarf, who'll proceed to tell you that it's the wrong kind.
Collect 3 kelda seeds.
He'll end up telling you to get him a Kelda stout, and that to make it, you need 4 Kelda seeds. He only has one, so you have to find his other drunken buddies to get the others.
- The Rowdy Dwarf - located south of the Drunken Dwarf circling the pub. He will ask you for an item. It's random for everyone, so you may have to leave Keldagrim and come back again (remember there is a bank in Keldagrim and various stores). If you have to leave Keldagrim, get the second kelda seed from WWM at the same time. Once you have the item, return to the Rowdy Dwarf and speak to him.
- Khorvak - located under White wolf mountain. Buy a ticket for the dwarven cart system to White Wolf Mountain for 100gp. Hop in the cart on track four and you will soon be under White Wolf Mountain. Go to where all the pub area and speak to Khorvak (Picture). Ask if you can borrow the seed and he'll eventually agree. Buy another ticket, and ride the cart back to Keldagrim.
- Gauss - located in west Keldagrim south of the bank. Speak to Gauss and he will ask you to join in a toast; buy a beer from the barman for 1gp and toast Gauss who will then give you the final Kelda hop seed.
Talk to Rind, west Keldagrim hops patch.
Plant kelda seeds.
Go to top floor of pub in east Keldagrim.
Follow step to brew kelda stout.
Head north-east of the west Keldagrim pub, to the hops patch (Picture). Speak to Rind the gardener and ask him for advice on as how to go about growing Kelda hops. If you haven't already got a rake and a seed dibber on you, grab it from the bank. Rake away the weeds from the hops patch and plant the seeds. It will take around 15-20 minutes for these to grow and when they have, you will get the message 'Perhaps I should take a look and see if my Kelda hops have grown...' (Picture).
When you have harvested the single Kelda hops go to the Laughing Miner bar in east Keldagrim and bring along two buckets of water, two barley malt, 25gp, and an empty beer glass. Speak to Blandebir upstairs and buy some ale yeast for 25gp (you will need a pot to hold it in). Now use your two buckets of water with the fermenting vat, then add the barley malt, the Kelda hops, and finally, a pot of ale yeast.
After about 10-15 minutes the contents of the vat will have matured and you will need to turn the valve, level the Kelda Stout in the barrel, then fill an empty beer glass with the Kelda stout. If you don't have a beer glass, buy a beer downstairs and drink it for an empty beer.
Give kelda stout to Drunken Dwarf.
Talk to Cart Conductor, southern side of tracks.
Talk to mining director you helped during Giant Dwarf quest.
Hop in southern cart.
Search box for two stones.
Now go downstairs, head north back to the Drunken Dwarf's house and give him the beer. The dwarf will tell you about the Red Axe, and then you'll go into a cut-scene and he'll talk about the abyss and pink dragons (Picture) and that the entrance was boarded up. When he's finished talking to you, head to the southern side of the tracks, and speak to the cart conductor just outside the track leading to a boarded wall.
Ask the cart conductor about the closed off tunnel (Picture) and he'll say he doesn't have the authority to open it. He'll say that perhaps you have an influential friend who has the authority to open it. So head north-west to the Kelda-market and go upstairs to the Consortium. Speak to the mining director you helped during The Giant Dwarf quest. Ask about the boarded-up tunnel. The director will tell you that he has ordered the removal of the boards.
Make your way back to the carts near the southern cart conductor and hop in one. After a short ride you will be on a small ledge with some Dwarven machinery, and a box. Search the box to obtain two stones. Now click 'control Dwarven machinery' and a junction interface will appear (Picture).
Follow the step.
Click 'set junction' on the left-most point twice, then click 'set junction' again, on the point just below it (Picture). Hop in the cart again, and you will come to another box (Picture). Search the box, hop back in the cart, and you'll be taken back to the machinery.
Once again, start at the left-most point, by setting the junction, then set the point above it, then set the one above that as well, and there should be two green, and one yellow stone in there (Picture). Hop back in the cart, and you'll be taken to another box. Search it, and ride the cart back to the machinery.
Control the machinery again; click the left-most point twice, then click the point just below that one twice, then click the one below that once, and then the one diagonally-up right of it (Picture). Hop back into the cart, and you'll go through a cave entrance, overlooking a Red Axe conversation. After listening to their conversation, crawl to the cave entrance on the opposite side of the cave, and you'll be taken to a different set of Dwarven machinery (Picture). Search the box to find more stones.
Click the left-most point once; click the one above, then click the one to the right of it (Picture). Hop in the cart, and you'll be taken to another platform with a box. Search it, hop back in the cart, and operate the machinery once more.
Follow the step.
Click the left-most point twice, the point below it twice, the point below that once and then click the point to the right of that once (Picture). Hop in the cart, search the box at the end of the line, and return to the machinery again.
Click the left-most point once, the point above it once, the point above that twice; following the green line, click once to set the point, then set the next junction, to the right of it (Picture). Hop in the cart again, and you'll enter a storeroom.
Search all the crates with papers on them and all the bookshelves, and you'll find three pieces of reading material that you'll automatically read (Picture).
Enter the cave entrance, and say yes to moving deeper into the mines. You'll end up at another platform with controls. Search the box and you'll have four more stones. Operate the machinery and click the left-most junction once, then click the point directly above it once; above that point click once, then click the point to the right of the last yellow one (Picture). Hop in the cart, search the box and go back to the machinery. Operate the machinery again.

Talk to Commander Veldaban.
Buy a beer and kebab, and go to the Laughing Miner inn.
By now you should have figured out that to get a yellow stone in a junction when you have green available, click twice, and then follow where the green bar goes to click again. To get a green bar in, click once. Get a yellow stone at the left, yellow down, yellow right, green down, green diagonally-up twice to the right (Picture). Hop in the cart, search the box, and return to the platform.
Operate the machinery and get use the combination provided in this picture (Picture). Once you've done that board the cart and you will enter another cave. A cut-scene will reveal that the Red Axe has created a small army of Chaos Dwarfs (Picture).
Soon after, the Ogre Shaman notices you and casts some type of spell on you (Picture) that brings you back to the railway carts.
Head back to Commander Veldaban at the Black Guard HQ and you'll suddenly feel the need for a kebab and beer. Grab a beer from the east Keldagrim pub for 1gp and a kebab from Kjut in the east Keldagrim kebab store. To complete the quest, you must be inside the Laughing Miner inn. Once you're there with your kebab and beer, eat the kebab or drink the beer, and watch the cut-scene (Picture).
