After saving the holy man Drezel, he's seeking some assistance again. This time he has a special request for any adventurous sorts to search for the Druid 'Filliman Tarlock' and brave the terrors that infest the swamp of Mort Myre.
Talk to Drezel.
Talk to Ulizius, go acroess the bridge, then talk to Filliman.
Go back to Drezel.
Then go and have a chat with father Urhney.
Before you start the quest ensure you have recharged your prayer points as you cannot complete the quest on 0 points.
If you have done the Priest in Peril Quest (which you will need to have done to do this quest) you should know where the mausoleum is. This is the temple to Saradomin you visited several times during the quest. Go here, to the back where the holy barrier is, and talk to Drezel (Picture). Ask him if there is anything interesting for you to do. Drezel will ask you if you are able to search for Filliman Tarlock who lives at the south end of Mort Myre. Drezel will ask you if you're sure you will help. Say you will can. He will give you an arrangement of pies to give to Filliman.
Go south right after crossing the barrier and find the gate (Picture). You will be unable to go through. Talk to Ulizius, the man in brown robes near the gate. Then go through the gate.
Keep going south, dodging the Ghasts, until you come to an island. Go to the south side of the island, where there is a bridge. Jump the bridge. You may fall and take damage.
Talk to Filliman. You will find that you aren't able to understand him. If you don't have a Ghostspeak amulet, you must go back to Drezel and tell to him you cannot understand what Filliman says. Drezel says it is because he is a ghost and to go to the west part of the Lumbridge swamps and talk to Father Urhney about getting another amulet. Go to Lumbridge swamps. You should find a house and father Urhney inside. Ask him for another amulet."then walk west towards Draynor Village, but as soon as you see an opening in the fence, go all the way south east to the very end of the swamp. A small house will eventually appear. Go inside and talk to Father Urhney. He will give you a new Amulet of Ghostspeak if you ask for one. Go back to Filliman and try to talk to him again.
He won't believe that he's a ghost. Pickup the 'Washing Bowl' on the table and then grab the mirror from under it. Use the mirror on Filliman. He'll claim that the mirror is dysfunctional because he cannot see himself in it. After you insist that he is a ghost, he will say that you may be right.
Becoming a Nature Spirit
Search the grotto, and then speak to Filliman.
Talk to Drezel again.
Go back to Filliman's island, and enter the grotto.
Search the grotto tree in the middle of the island to receive a journal. The journal refers to the requirements of becoming a 'Nature Spirit' which are 'Something from Nature', 'Something with Faith', and 'Something of the Spirit-to-become freely given'. Use the journal on Filliman to give it to him. Ask him what his plan is and he will tell you that he wants to preserve the swamps which were once a forest as a Natures' Spirit. Then ask how you can help. He tells you that he needs the three requirements. Then he will give you the 'Druidic Spell', but tell you that you need to be blessed by Drezel to use it.
"Something with Faith" - Go back to Drezel and he will bless you then say that you look like somebody with faith. "Something from nature" - Find a rotting log (There's one close to Filliman's island) (Picture). Cast the spell while standing next to it and mushrooms will appear on it (Picture). Pick the mushrooms to receive 'Mort myre fungi'.
Go back to Filliman's Island. You should see three stones circling where Filliman is. Place the fungi on the western-most stone. The stone will absorb it. "Something of the spirit-to-be freely given" - Talk to Filliman again. Ask for another blooming spell. Use this with the eastern-most stone. He will say "This seems right". Stand on the final stone. Talk to Filliman again and say that you think you've solved the puzzle. He will perform the spell and then tell you to come into the grotto.
Enter the grotto and talk to Filliman. He will transform into a nature spirit. Then he will tell you to bring him a silver sickle so that he can help you overcome the Ghasts.
Defeating Ghasts and Making a Nature Altar
Get filliman to bless a silver sickle.
Kill 3 ghasts with the sickle in your inventory.
Go go back to Filliman to complete the quest.
If you do not already have a silver sickle, go to the crafting shop in Al-Kharid and buy a sickle mould for 10gp. Then use a silver bar on a furnace with the mould in your inventory to make a silver sickle. Level 18 crafting is required.
Bring the sickle to the Nature Spirit. He will bless it and tell you to collect nature's bounty and use it to fill a druid pouch that he gives you. He says that when there are three items in the pouch, you will be able to make Ghasts appear and kill three of them.
Go back to the log where you made the fungi grow. Right-click on the sickle and choose to cast the bloom spell. The mushrooms will grow again; pick them. Do this three times and then fill the druid pouch. Now, with the sickle equipped, go near a Ghast. It will appear and you can attack it (Picture). Kill 3. Go back to the Nature Spirit and tell him you've killed 3 Ghasts. He will transform the grotto into a nature altar.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use this Nature Altar to make nature runes?
A: No you can't make nature runes at this Nature Altar.
Q: What do Ghasts drop?
A: Haven't done much Ghast killing, but I've seen them drop fishing bait, herbs, bronze kiteshields, iron daggers, and GP.
Q: Can you explain the significance of each of the requirements for the Nature Spirit spell?
A: Well, the "Something of nature" is obvious. When you examine the druid bloom spell it says "A druidic spell given to you freely by the spirit of Filliman Tarlock", so that would be "Something of the spirit-to-be freely given." Finally, you were just blessed, so this is why you're the "Something with faith."
