2.0 - Requirements

To be able to go treasure hunting, you must have completed Making History. You will need certain items to be able to unearth and locate your treasures easily and quickly.

  • A spade - Used for digging up the treasures.
  • The Enchanted Key - Reward from the Making History quest, needed to find the treasures.
  • Boots of Lightness and Spotted or Spottier cape (optional) - Allows you to run longer.
  • Teleport runes and jewellery (highly recommended) - Used for teleporting close to the places where the treasures are buried.

3.0 - Strategy

When you feel the Enchanted Key, you'll feel it's temperature. There are six possible temperatures:

  • Freezing - You are very far away from the treasure.
  • Cold - The treasure is far away.
  • Warm - You're getting close to the treasure.
  • Very hot - You're close to the treasure.
  • Burning hot - You're really close to the treasure.
  • Steaming - Dig! The treasure is buried right beneath your feet!

Every time you feel the key, you'll get a message of it's temperature. It'll also say if the key is getting warmer or colder. When you start searching for a treasure, feel the key, walk a couple of steps north and feel again. If the key is getting warmer, you know the treasure is buried in the North direction of you. Now walk a couple steps to the east and feel again, if the key is getting warmer, the treasure is buried somewhere in the East direction. This way, you can make a raw estimation of where the treasure is buried. Now if the key is cold or freezing, teleport to a city in the direction the key was getting warmer in. Feel the key again. If the key indicates it's warm or hotter, you're in the right direction. Now feel the key to know which direction you have to walk. Walk to the direction the key is getting warmer in, make sure it keeps getting warmer and warmer. If the key is burning hot, the treasure is very close. When it's steaming, use your spade to dig up the treasure.

4.0 - Locations

There are 11 locations where the treasure may be buried. After you've searched all the locations and found all the treasures, your Enchanted key will melt and you won't be able to get a new one. Note: The order in which you have to dig on the locations is different for everybody, only the first one will always be at the Fremennik Province.
