1.0 - Introduction

The ghostly robes were introduced into the game following the Desert Treasure quest, with a primary focus on giving players more knowledge of the Gods of Gielinor. Read along on how to obtain your very own set of ghost robes, and then learn more about the history of the gods in our God Guide.

In February 2007 the Shadow sword made its way into the game as a hidden update, adding a weapon to the Ghostly robes set. Obtaining the Shadow sword is a separate task to gathering ghostly robes, but is however an appendage to the use of the Ring of Visibilty.

2.0 - Ghostly Robes

To be able to make your way through this miniquest you must be wearing the Ring of Visibility from Desert Treasure and the Amulet of Ghostspeak from The Restless Ghost Quest.

Start:
Make your way to Glarial's Tomb just west of the Fishing Guild and talk to the Mysterious Ghost there. Listen to his story and he will give you the Ghostly Robe (top). He will also ask you to find a ghost named Rennard and will give you a clue to his location. There are three separate "sequences" that are defined by the first clue.

The table below shows the pieces of Ghostly Robes, as well as the bonus they give to both magic attack and defence.

3.0 - Shadow Sword

To be able to obtain this sword you must have already have gathered all the ghostly robes. You must also have completed the Fight Arena quest, and bring 40GP. It is also recommended to bring food, armour, boots of lightness and a spotted/spottier cape to aid in running. Prayer cannot be used to fight the boss.

Start:
Find the Ghost of General Khazard east of the Rellekka house teleport (Picture). Speak to him with your Ring of Visibility and Amulet of Ghostspeak equipped and make sure you are wearing your ghostly robes or he will not speak to you. Do not tell him that you remember him from somewhere. He will ask you to find Sin Seer, an old crone in Seer's village.

Find Sin Seer at the top floor of the spinning wheel house in Seer's Village and give her 40 gp as a bribe. She will give you a report to give to General Khazard.

Find General Khazard again east of the Rellekka House teleport and give him the report. He will tell you to find his four scouts and give them the message "The planets are nearing alignment; we will meet in the place of half light and ice soon. Beware of others, for though they are weak and few, they are cunning." The scouts are found anywhere within the region shown on the images below:

Picture Name Location
Zybez Runescape Help's Picture of Scout 1 Scout 1 In front of the Tree Gnome Stronghold, just west of the apple orchard.
Zybez Runescape Help's Picture of Scout 2 Scout 2 South-east of the Teak and Mahogony Plantation in Tai Bwo Wannai Village.
Zybez Runescape Help's Picture of Scout 3 Scout 3 South-east of the Shantay Pass.
Zybez Runescape Help's Picture of Scout 4 Scout 4 East of Falador, and west of Draynor Manor, between the Falador wall and the trees.

Return to General Khazard who will tell you to go to a fish-men cave, also known as the Goblin Dungeon south-east of the fishing guild. He will give you a severed leg to use as a key. Get your fighting gear ready, as well as food or any combat potions you wish to take. Remember that you cannot use prayer.

Once within the cave, head north-east where you will find a crack. Open the crack and you will be asked if you wish to enter. If you have armour and weapons and food, reply yes. You cannot use prayer within the crack. You will come face to face with a ghostly Bouncer (level 160). When the Bouncer has 10hp left, you will automatically throw the severed leg, distracting the Bouncer and allowing you to give the finishing blow. Your reward will be the Ghost Sword and 2000 slayer XP.

Q: Do I have to listen to the ghosts entire story of the gods?

A: Yes. It's quite interesting stuff. Well, most of it.

A: Yes. Its stats are slightly better than that of a black 2 handed sword.

Q: Does the ghost sword have a special attack?

A: No. The sword is also a 2-handed weapon.

Q: I lost my ring of visibilty, how do I get another?

A: You can obtain a replacement ring by talking to Rasolo by the picnic area just south of Glarial's Tomb.

A: You can obtain a replacement Ghostspeak Amulet by going to the house just north of the coal mine in Lumbridge Swamp, south of the Lost City quest start-point.

Q: How much of Desert Treasure do I have to have completed before I am able to obtain the Ring of Visibility?

A: You do not need to complete any combat parts of Desert Treasure to receive the ring, but do need the thieving level requirement as well as the quest requirements.

Q: Can I get multiple sets of ghost robes?

Q: How much do they weigh, and can they be traded?

A: The ghost robes are practically weightless, coming in at .001kg each (1 gram). They are not tradeable.
