1.0 - Introduction

A Monkey greegree is a talisman that you wield in your weapon spot that transforms you into a monkey.

To acquire a greegree you must first complete the Monkey Madness quest, or have at least started it. You will need monkey remains, and a monkey talisman to make a greegree.

To obtain a monkey talisman, you can either buy one from the magic store (1,000gp) in the Ape Atoll, or ask the monkey child for one. Take the talisman and monkey remains (corpse or bones), to Zooknock, who is located in the dungeon west of the boat the gnomes take your from. He will give you a greegree that will transform you into the monkey the remains came from. When you arrive at Zooknock with the remains and talisman, use them on him, and he will give you the greegree.

You may only transform into a Monkey on the Ape Atoll, or in Ardougne zoo. Once you are in monkey form, you retain your name and combat level. Also, whilst wielding the greegree, you cannot attack anything, or use magic. You can however, use prayer.

Warning! On Ape Atoll island, if you are a monkey and you turn into a human you will be brutally attacked. However, as a monkey nothing on the island will attack you.

They monkeys roam around the jungle area just west of the Karamja volcano, as well as around the nature rune altar southeast of Tai Bwo Wannai. If you have completed the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio , when you melee a monkey, it will drop a corpse. If you haven't completed the Tai Bwo Wannai Trio quest, you must either mage or range the monkey to get its bones.

Name: Zombie Monkey (small) | Level: 82 | Remains: 4 Prayer XP

This is the smaller form of the Zombie Monkey found in Zooknock's tunnel. These monkeys are found within the dungeon of the Monkey Temple, to the east of the jail. Be careful however, as the bearded monkey guards are able to block your path, making it difficult to try to climb down into the dungeon.

Name: Zombie Monkey (big) | Level: 98 | Remains: 5 Prayer XP

These monkeys are found within Zooknock's tunnel and also with their babies, in the Monkey Temple. They can be very annoying to bypass when attempting to get through Zooknock's tunnel. Their bones are very small for the size of the monkey.

Zybez RuneScape Help's Picture of a Ninja Monkey Guard

Name: Monkey Guard (ninja) | Level: 149 | Remains: 18 Prayer XP

The ninja monkey is harder to attain the remains of, as they only appear when a primate citizen of the atoll calls for the guards. To attain this monkey's remains, equip a greegree and head to the warehouse just south of the jail. Whilst in monkey form, stand on the inner square. Get ready to run behind the boxes in the safe zone (it's a different shade of flooring) and take off your greegree. As soon as the ninja monkey shows up, run behind the box in a way so that the ninja monkey does not get close to you (since it will knock you out if you are close enough). See Picture. The gnome assassin from the Monkey Madness quest will then show up and kill the ninja monkey for you, leaving you with his remains.

Name: Monkey Guard | Level: 167 | Remains: 18 Prayer XP

These are found in the Monkey temple, east of the jail. They are great for high level training as you can receive pretty much endless experience, without the need for any food. This is done by turning protect from melee on then recharging your prayer whenever it runs out - there is an altar on the ground floor and also up the stairs by this altar. They self heal their hit points as you get down to low health, however, if they are attacking someone else who is attacking another monkey, it will not recharge if you're killing it.

These are the same as the other monkeys in the temple, however, they are much more dangerous to train on. They guard the trapdoor which leads to the temple's basement, and they guard it very well: they are one of the few NPCs that can block your path and not let you move through them. There are four here, so it makes it very difficult to reach the trapdoor, and also makes it dangerous if you get caught in the middle of them whilst training.
